The Windows Mobile Media Dilemma

Recently, Apple released their latest version of the iPod. The big news, according to Apple, was the reduced thickness of the new device (compared to the old models) and the fact that they now play video (along with photos, music, podcasts, and audio books).
About the same time there started to be a lot of chatter about the fact that the video iPod offers nothing new. All these functions have been available in Windows Mobile (WM) devices (and yes, Palm devices) for some time. This has led a lot of people to ask the question: “So why is the iPod getting all this media attention when WM devices have superior technical specs, especially relating to multimedia?”
