Mobile Phone Movies Are About to Make Their Appearance on the Film Horizon!
Discovery Networks Asia and Nokia are reinventing the concept of filmmaking by providing mobile phone users with access to the knowledge and technology of a new genre-mobile filmmaking. They have launched Mobile First Time Filmmakers 2005, a competition that offers a grand prize of $10,000.
To join, send a photo or a video no longer than nine seconds, and a brief description of a favorite icon that best defines the values and hopes of your community, and how this will be presented in a short mobile film.
Contestants may send in storyboards to support their entries. More information is available at www.mobifilms.net. Closing date for submission is Sunday, Sept. 4.
Fifteen applicants will be flown to Singapore in September to attend a special workshop to learn more about mobile filmmaking techniques. They will each also receive a Nokia N90, which they will use to shoot and submit their entries.
Using the Nokia N90 high-performance multimedia device that comes with optics from Carl Zeiss, consumers now have the ability to create their own high-quality personal mobile films. This technological advancement can contribute to the evolution and growth of documentary filmmaking.
