Using the Pocket PC Startup Folder
Posted on August 11th, 2005 in Pocket PC
So what in the world is this Startup folder? The Startup folder on a Pocket PC is used by the Pocket PC to launch programs automatically at startup. Many programs automatically install themselves in this folder and thus start running each time you turn on your Pocket PC. If they don’t need to be running, they may be using resources that are better utilized elsewhere. Use File Explorer to browse to My Device > Windows > Startup (not Start Menu!). Are there any programs in there that don’t need to be running all the time? Make a folder elsewhere and move those programs to that folder (just cut and paste them). Actually, they’re just shortcuts, so you aren’t really moving the program files themselves.
